The Unlocking Process
The unlocking process is essentially the reverse of the locking process. When you insert the correct key and turn it in the opposite direction of the locking turn, the plug rotates in the opposite direction. This rotation causes the lock bolt or latch to retract from the strike plate. As the bolt or latch moves out of the strike plate, the door can be opened.
